The Artist: B. C. Helm

I photograph only what I like to photograph. This is how I make compelling images. If what I see in the viewfinder means nothing to me, then why would it mean anything to you? I am not a jack-of-all-trades photographer. I do not photograph ‘everything.’ I like to photograph people. Maybe that is how I first was driven to journalism. Though no longer in that industry, I still love to photograph people: family and friends, female models, musicians, and baseball players, to name a few. All my work, in some way, shape or form, is portraiture.

The three main genres to my work are people, places and things. Many of the pieces on this site are part of long-term projects. This site is just a sampling of the work that I have done, that I continue to do, that I will do. Photography is my vocation, my hobby and my passion.

I am available to photograph models interested in building or adding to their portfolios. I have also photographed weddings, parties, and fine art intimate portraiture. If you would like to hire me for a photographic job, or if you would like to purchase prints of any of the pieces shown on this site, please feel free to contact me for rates and pricing at bchelm@bchelm-cameraeye.com. You may also contact me to comment on any of the work on this site.

It is not true that good artists create art and bad artists teach art. I am not a scholar, I am not an authority. I am not the final word about photography. I am simply a man who loves photography. I am only as good as the people who have inspired me, encouraged me, educated me, trained me, helped me, helped to cultivate and open my mind, valued me and pointed me in the right direction. So if you would just like to talk with me about photography, ask questions, get pointers, or open any dialog, please feel free to email me at bchelm@bchelm-cameraeye.com.

I also have a blog published at The Camera Eye of B. C. Helm.
